Capture mouse action and replay
In order to capture mouse action, you have to add following code into the page's html.
In order to capture the action of a single page, you can add this code with CMS's content editor.
Open the content editor and click the "Additional Code" tab, then following pane appears.
After publishing the page and visitor access the page, logging the action automatically starts.
This way is suitable to log the user experience data of the landing page. Most of you want to select the page to log them, because the logger consume CPU.
Another way to add the logging code is to make template which has the code. In order to make it, open the template editor.
There are following type of templates in this CMS.
- Top Template
- Container Template
- Primitive Template (Html5 Component)
You have to add the code into the Top Template. In order to open the Top Template editor, click the "Top Templates" on the top page of the administration console.
Then the template editor is shown.
Then click the template you want to add the code from the list of templates on the left side of this page. Then the template editor opens the template on the right pane.
Then click the "Html" tab to show the code template to generate actual Html code on publish.
You have to add the code to log into the head tag of the Html code. The location of additional code is next the meta and link tags.
After adding the code, push the "Save" button. Then "Apply" button appears. Click the "Apply" button, then the web pages using this template become dirty, and their Html code is automatically re-generated when a visitor accesses the page.
Then the logging code you add will be added to the Html code, and automatically starts logging.
This way is suitable to specify pages by the CMS template at once.
After you added logging code, and users access the page, logged data is shown on the replay console. In order to open the replay console, click the "Play Recorded Logs" button.
Then following page appears.
On this page, you can replay the action, and check the actual user experience on the page.
In order to play the user experience, click the "Play" button on the right side of the record. Then a new window appears and start replaying user experience.
On this popup window, the mouse pointer is the picture of the mouse, and reproduce the mouse action on the window. The screen size is same with the user's one.
After finished replaying the actions, an alert box appears, and by clicking the "Finish" button, then the replaying finishes.
When you use logging, the record increases, then you can query the record by the attribute of records. On the top of the page, following search box is there.
The record of the logged data has following attributes.
- user id
- access id
- access time
- remote host
- user agent
The logger uses the cookie of the web browser, and it stores user id to the cookie. And the user access, it generate access id and log the actions with them.
And following attributes are available for query.
The User Id is used to specify the browser based user, because the logger detects the user by cookie of the web browser.
By using this function, you can check following things.
- How many times the user access this page, and the detail of experience.
- Which other pages the user access
The remote host is the IP based string.
Query by the url, you can check the performance's detail of the page. This logger logs only pages which has logging code.
Selecting by the referer string with full-text match. By using this function, you can select records comes form specified advertisement pages.
If there are some advertisement page, whose target is suspicious in doing effective marketing, user this input.
The search engines has queried keywords as the parameter of the referer. By setting this keyword, selects the records which have the keyword in it.
But recently, most of search engines like google do not provides queried keywords. Then it is not available.
